3 reasons why Sustana Fiber is changing the game with EnviroLife®

1. Unmatched purity. Unlimited potential.

At Sustana Fiber, we’ve created a recycled fiber that is processed in an environmentally responsible way, allowing fibers to re-emerge as clean, safe fiber used to make new paper products. With it’s unlimited potential, it can be used in many paper-based products, such as, takeaway containers, hot and cold cups, pizza boxes, soup containers, coffee bags, cheese/meat interleaving paper, clam shell containers, bread bags, food service wraps and packaging, to go coffee cups, and more.

2. EnviroLife® is recycled fiber that can be used at 100% inclusion with no added barrier.

What does this mean for you?  It means that you can maximize your sustainability goals with packaging that is comprised entirely of 100% recycled fiber. We have developed a fiber that can be used in direct contact applications with no added barrier. Envirolife® is backed up by a ‘No objection letter from the FDA at 100% inclusion with no barrier’. Up until now, food and beverage materials required an additional coating such as polyethylene waxes or foils to be compliant with FDA standards.

3. Our recycled fiber contains zero fluorescence

Most recycled fiber contains optical brightening agents (OBA) to meet consumer preferences for brighter papers. Since optical whiteners are not FDA approved for use with food and beverages, a barrier must be added. Our proprietary process completely eliminates OBAs resulting in a fiber that contains zero fluorescence.

No Objection Letter (NOL) from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) stating the fiber “is of a purity suitable for food-contact use.”

Waste Management for a Circular World: How Composting and Recycling Stack up for Sustainability

Every day more than 700,000 tons of waste—enough to fill over 60,000 garbage trucks—makes its way to landfills across the US. While some will be burned for energy and some will stay in the dump, a large portion will be diverted towards one of two solutions valued for their environmental impact: recycling or composting.
To understand how each solution works, imagine the journey of two of those trucks.
