Sustana Fiber’s Jim Schneider and Steven Minor discuss recycling trends with Triple Pundit

While the COVID-19 pandemic slowed the movement against single-use plastics, the movement has since regained momentum, with a growing number of consumers viewing recyclable paper products as a more environmentally friendly solution than plastics. Now manufacturers are tasked with creating new paper cups, cartons, and other items – many that may have new moisture-proof coatings that may be more challenging to recycle.

Sustana Fiber’s VP of Operations Jim Schneider spoke with TriplePundit’s Tina Casey about how the fiber and paper industry is working with manufacturers to help design packaging that is more environmentally friendly and recyclable than plastic, while Fiber Procurement Manager Steven Minor discussed how he’s seen the industry adapt over the years.

As more plastic bans, technology, and misinformation emerge, it’s extremely important that consumers and manufacturers are educated about paper recycling and recyclability. Sustana continues to collaborate with brands to bring fiber and paper products full circle with sustainable innovation.
